LeaveDraft is designed from the ground up to collect the absolute minimum data necessary to operate. We distinguish between two categories:
We do not collect any personal information you enter into the leave application generator. The names, dates, school names, company names, reasons for leave, and any other details you fill into any form on LeaveDraft are processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript. This data is never transmitted to our servers, never stored in any database we control, and never seen by us or any third party.
When you visit LeaveDraft.com, standard web server logs may record your IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages visited, and time of visit. This information is used only for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and aggregate traffic analysis. It is not linked to any personal identity and is routinely deleted.
This is the most important section of our Privacy Policy, and we want to be completely clear:
Every leave application generated on LeaveDraft is created and processed entirely inside your web browser. When you type your name, your school's name, your manager's name, your reason for leave, or any other detail — that information stays on your device. Our servers receive no data from your form inputs. There is no API call, no form submission, and no server-side processing of any letter content.
The "Your Recent Letters" history feature uses your browser's localStorage — a storage mechanism that exists only on your device, is controlled entirely by you, and is inaccessible to us. You can clear this history at any time using the "Clear History" button in the tool, or by clearing your browser's local storage through your browser settings.
If you use LeaveDraft in an incognito or private browsing window, no localStorage data is saved — not even temporarily. Everything disappears when you close the window.
LeaveDraft itself does not set first-party tracking cookies. However, the third-party services we use for advertising and analytics (Google AdSense and Google Analytics) may set cookies on your device. These cookies are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the display of advertisements on our site but will not affect the core leave application generator functionality in any way.
We do not use cookie-based tracking for remarketing, behavioural profiling, or any purpose beyond those described in this policy.
LeaveDraft is free to use because it is supported by advertising revenue through Google AdSense. Google AdSense may display personalised ads based on your browsing history and interests using cookies and similar technologies. This is managed entirely by Google and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google's Ad Settings, or by using the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool.
We have no access to or control over the cookies placed by Google AdSense. We do not receive any personal data from Google's advertising systems — only aggregate, anonymised revenue information.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use LeaveDraft — which pages are most visited, how long people stay on the site, which features are most used, and where visitors come from geographically (at a country or region level). This helps us improve the tool for all users.
Google Analytics collects information such as page views, session duration, browser type, and approximate geographic location. IP addresses are anonymised before processing. We do not use Google Analytics to track individuals or link analytics data to any personal identity. We have enabled IP anonymisation and do not use demographic or interest-based reporting features that rely on personal tracking.
LeaveDraft includes buttons to share your leave application via WhatsApp and to open it in Gmail. Clicking these buttons opens WhatsApp or Gmail in a new window or tab. The letter text is passed as a URL parameter to pre-fill the message — this happens on your device, not through our servers. Once you leave LeaveDraft, you are subject to WhatsApp's and Google's respective privacy policies.
Our website may contain links to external websites (such as Google's ad settings or opt-out tools). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those external sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
LeaveDraft is designed to be used by people of all ages, including school students who are minors. Because we do not collect any personal data through our leave application generator, our service is inherently safe for children to use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information (e.g., through a contact form submission), please contact us immediately at leavedraft@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
Parents and guardians should be aware that third-party advertisers (Google AdSense) may display ads to minors. We encourage parents to use Google's Family Link or browser-level ad controls if they wish to restrict ad personalisation for their children.
Because LeaveDraft does not collect personal data through its primary service, most traditional data rights (access, correction, deletion) are not applicable in the usual sense — there is no personal data profile associated with your use of our leave application generator. However:
If you are located in the European Union, you may have additional rights under the GDPR. If you are located in California, you may have rights under the CCPA. Please contact us to exercise any such rights.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of LeaveDraft after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or the way LeaveDraft handles data, please contact us. Ankit and Amrit personally review all privacy-related inquiries.
